The immune system is a group of mechanisms that protects against disease by identifying and killing pathogens, germs, mutated cells, and tumors. Most importantly, it can distinguish between dangerous elements and healthy cells.

With all our patients we prescribe agents that can aid the immune system’s ability to attack cancer by optimizing the function of natural killer cells (NK) and cytotoxic T-cells (Tc ). NK cells can kill a broad range of cancer cells; Tc cells target cancer cells that express specific proteins not produced by healthy tissues. Though immune cells rarely can destroy large tumors, they might kill the small nests of tumor cells that give rise to new metastases or that can cause a recurrence of cancer following a remission. Therefore, boosting activity of NK cells and Tc cells is our first piece of immune-stimulation therapy.
