In the complex process of keeping our bodies functioning properly, nutrition supplies the elements necessary to keep 100 trillion cells carrying out their diverse activities. One of the most important activities in the body is a production of replacement cells. This is a vulnerable process because there are many elements that distort genetic information and cause cellular mutations. If the organism has access to adequate resources, you’ll have the weapons needed to reduce this latent danger. Studies have divided nutrients into two large groups according to the quantities that we need for survival. Those we need in vast quantities are called macronutrients or high-volume nutrients. Those we need in small quantities are called micronutrients.
When we speak of nutrients, we merely think of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Occasionally we think of the vitamin, yet it is common knowledge that 80% of cellular activity depends directly on these micronutrients. A balanced diet is one that provides sufficient quantities of the macro and micro nutrients, although there may be many dietitians and doctors who think that a balanced diet means holding a soft drink in one hand and a cinnamon rolls covered with refined sugar in another. In reality, nearly all foods and vegetables contain both macro and micro nutrients, although in different concentrations. For example, the banana is considered to be one of the most perfect foods because it contains all the nutrients needed by the body in the precise amounts needed.
Proteins, carbohydrates and fats are micronutrients. Vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and enzymes are micronutrients. When we drive a car, what is important to us is that it runs. When we need to pass someone, we want our cars have the power necessary to do so and not falter. We don’t stop to think about engine combustion, compression, and temperature. We are only concerned with the car’s ability to move. The same thing is true of our body. We want it to run properly. In order to do this we must have energy. We know that we get this energy from food. The macronutrients provide energy called calories. I’m average required 2000 calories a day. All of these are obtained from carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
